For this unit Artist Steal I didn't really understand the whole concept or meaning of great artist steal, but getting more into the unit and watching the TED Talk videos I started to understand the unit better. What I learned is nothing is original today, what we hear is just a complex version of what was the original. What makes a great artist so great is admitting that something that you stole is not yours. Also what makes art original is taking something and recreating it so it can be original. The more you don't add to it the more its not going to be a original. Looking on pinterest helped a lot with getting ideas with the projects but at the same time it was kind of easy to think of original ideas by myself. With the projects and warm-ups I thought they where extremely helpful, not only to help develop my art making skills but this is a skill that I can apply them to other subjects or topics.
In the image below this is one of my projects for this unit. For this unit project we had to do a character remix, which is taking any character(s) and putting a spin or twist to them. for my character I chose to do "Lilo and Stitch" which is one of my favorite cartoons growing up as a kid. To put the remix on Lilo and Stitch I decided to transform them into a warrior fighting duo. When I was doing my sketch it was hard for e to get the proportions correct. Now when i was doing my final sketch I didn't have the right color of colored pencils to get the exact color that I needed. So I had to use the white colored pencil to shade in the inside of Lilo then use the brown colored pencil to get the tint of the brown which i used the method rubbishing to make it waxy.
