For this project we had to pick a piece of artwork or an artists style of art from the North Carolina Museum of Art and recreate our own original piece that interrupts the artists style or artwork. Teens Inspired is a art program/contest at the North Carolina Museum of Art that allow teens from all over North Carolina to create art that they where inspired by and submit the artwork to the program/contest and let people vote for the artwork that they best like. The winner of Teens Inspired gets there artwork displayed in the museum for quite some time. The link below is the link to watch the Teens Inspired video.
For my project that my group and I did, we created a bridge in the woods made out of tree branches and sticks. The person who we were inspired by is Patrick Dougherty. His is well known for his stickwork or sculptures made completely out of sticks. His artwork is displayed in the NC Art Museum in Raleigh. One of his sculptures is shown right in front of the museum. Below you can see it.
In the sculpture that he made above, you can see the the sticks and tree branches form two bodies. The one on the right is looking up and the one on the left is looking down.
We were inspired by him because we thought his artwork was unique and extreme. Also he had a way of not harming the tree or nature in the making of his work so we tried to do the same. We didn't pull sticks off trees or knock down trees we just picked up sticks and branches of the ground.
